Weekly summary 02/2021

Hi,

this is a summary of what was going in the doll world in the 2nd week of 2021, as far as we at Dollstudio & DS Doll Europe were concerned.

1) Coronavirus situation. a) The pandemic situation in general. As it was already indicated in the weeks before, the pandemic is being abused as a pretext to restrict freedom of speech/freedom of expression and other fundamental rights like freedom of assembly/freedom of association, freedom of movement, and the right to self-determination. These are supposed to be universally recognised rights which are part of the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the U.N. International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, and the U.N. International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights. Nontheless they are suspended indefinitely all around the globe without allowing a public discussion. On the other hand, the SARS-CoV-2 virus can be considered to be similarily managable like any other easily transmissible virus. There are scientifically proven COVID-19 prophylaxis and treatment protocols like I-MASK+ and MATH+ available. The unanswered question remains: Why are these methods not used?

b) Impact on the doll business. Due to severely limited air cargo capacities, most shipments are very slow. The oldest shipments in transit departed end of November, so waiting times to be expected are now around 6-8 weeks for EU destinations. However, some shipments are significantly faster, especially those from China to the U.S. With Chinese New Year holidays ahead, everything will slow down even more in the next couple of weeks. This is independent from the pandemic.

2) New arrivals.

This week, three new heads were introduced:

• Irontech ›Yukino‹ head (= IT no. 086) - TPE
• WM Dolls no. 10 silicone head (= WMS no. 10) - silicone
• WM Dolls no. 326 head (= Jinsan no. 326) - TPE

New head variants of older heads:

• SE Doll ›Julia‹ head - TPE (alias name for Beth = SE no. 089)

One new body style was released:

• New arrivals: Irontech IT-153/C body style - TPE / ~153 cm / ~37 kg
