Jeffrey Nachmanoff's science fiction thriller Replicas (2018) skips the stage of synthetic humanoids completely. Instead, the research neuroscientist William Foster (Keanu Reeves) clones his recently deceased family members within 17 days and even transfers their consciousness into the cloned bodies. Referencing Blade Runner, the clones are called replicants - they just don't have a built-in expiry date.
