Weekly summary 35/2020

Hi,

this is a summary of what was going in the doll world in the 35th week of 2020, as far as we at Dollstudio & DS Doll Europe were concerned.

1) Novel Coronavirus situation.

a) The pandemic situation in general. The amount of daily new infections still exceedes a quarter million per day on average. Most active hot spots were in the past week India, Brazil, the U.S., Peru, Argentina and Colombia.

The number of total confirmed cases has exceeded 25 million; as of today, it is at 25,200,480. So far, 847,391 deaths were recorded.

In Germany, there were (supposedly) violent protests against the Corona NPI (non-pharmaceutical interventions), and a couple of hundred protesters were arrested in Berlin.

b) Impact on the doll business. Sitation in a nutshell:

The pandemic keeps dominating the doll business. The ADC Expo in Shanghai seems to have proceeded with not many international visitors, customers are very hesitant to make any purchases, and international shipping remains severeley affected.

However, the Chinese shipping agents are trying hard to work around obstacles. The Fedex issue is not a problem anymore, and for EU destinations new shipping methods are tried out. With some luck, new orders might travel about one week to the U.S. and less than one month to EU destinations, pretty much the same transit times as before the pandemic. But there are stilllots of 'runaway' shipments which take supposedly longer. Out oldes shipment to Germany is now traveling for almost 80 days.

2) New arrivals.

This week, three new heads were introduced:

• Doll Forever ›Ivy‹ head (D4E no. N/A) - TPE
• SE Doll ›Tia‹ head (SE no. 010) / another alias for Kiko - TPE
• Xycolo ›Emily‹ head (XC no. N/A) - silicone

3) Technical updates and dolls in development.

Sino-doll decided for an undisclosed reason to temporarily stop accepting new orders for R+S effect. This announcement came in last Sunday and was not revoked yet.

The China Adult-Care Expo 2020 (China International Adult Toys and Reproductive Health Exhibition) in Shanghai has finished on August 23th. So far without any reports about interesting novelties.
