Weekly summary 39/2020

Hi,

this is a summary of what was going in the doll world in the 39th week of 2020, as far as we at Dollstudio & DS Doll Europe were concerned.

1) Novel Coronavirus situation.

a) The pandemic situation in general. The amount of daily new infections slighty raised on average between about a quarter million and above 300,000 per day. Most active hot spots in the past week remained India, the U.S., Brazil and Argentina. Also in the five-figure-group were France and Spain, and as a newcomer Israel.

The number of total confirmed cases has exceeded 33 million; as of today, it is at 33,224,403. Also, the death doll surpassed the one million mark. As of today, 1,000,709 deaths were recorded.

b) Impact on the doll business. There is a tendency for normalization as far as transit times are concerned. However, freight costs remain on a very high level and change every other day. In some cases, shipping costs now three times more than the product itself.

2) New arrivals.

This week, five new heads were introduced:

• Climax Doll ›Fukada‹ head (CLM no. 92) - TPE
• Doll Forever ›Azazel‹ demon anime head - TPE
• SE Doll ›Manami‹ head (SE no. 079) - TPE
• SE Doll ›Taylor‹ head (SE no. 014) - TPE
• WM Dolls head no. 383 (Jinsan no. 383) - TPE

New head variants of older heads:

• YL Doll Rinia aka Rania - silicone variant (TPE variant was: Jinsan no. 188 from 2017)
• WM Doll no. 70 head - head fixed to WM Doll WM-163 body style - TPE

Also, five new body styles were released:

• New arrivals: Climax Doll AD-158/A body style - TPE / ~158 cm / ~39 kg
• New arrivals: HR Doll HR-174/F body style - TPE / height ~174 cm / weight ~46 kg
• New arrivals: SE Doll SE-159/H body style - TPE / height ~159 cm / weight ~41 kg
• New arrivals: WM Dolls WM-164/D body style - TPE / 164 cm / 32 kg
• New arrivals: WM Dolls WM-168/H body style - TPE / 168 cm / 42 kg

3) Business updates, technical updates and dolls in development.

Effective immediately, Dollstudio US resumes to ship Indigo's care & repair products to all destinations in North America. The reason: The 'Deutsche Post' has started to ship to the U.S. again. There is no crisis surcharge anymore. Shiping costs have not increased. However, there is one handicap: The Post takes shipping literally. Since there are still no sufficient air freight capacities available, they will ship on the sea route. That means that the expected transit time will be at least 25-30 days. For destinations in the western United States or in remote regions, the transit time may be considerably longer (source).

Also, Climax Doll introduced a new 6th Anniversary Edition TPE doll lineup with excellent features and highly competitive pricing. The first model is a life-sized 158 cm doll called AD-158/A. A second doll from the new AD lineup is expected to be released in late October 2020.
