Weekly summary 03/2019

Hi,

another week has passed and our western new year is already three weeks old - and the Chinese New Year will be soon, on Tuesday, February 5th. The CNY holidays will typically last until February 19th. Legal (public) holidays are seven days (February 4th to 10th); some companies extend the holidays from the Lunar New Year's Eve to the 15th day of the first lunar month (Lantern Festival), February 19th. So the year of the dog is ending and soon the year of the pig will begin, and in 2020 it will be succeeded by the year of the rat.

Before everything in China goes into sleeping beauty mode for the next couple of weeks, this is a summary of what was going in the doll world in the past 3rd week of 2019, as far as we at Dollstudio & DS Doll Europe were concerned.

1) New arrivals.

Not much new came out in the past week. We added a couple of Sanhui, OR Doll and Jarliet heads from the backlog.

OR Doll's new ID scheme is a bit challenging as it introduces a lot of ambiguity, e.g. some heads with one Jinsan head ID have two OR ID's.

3) Shipped dolls.

Again, one shipped doll this week: A Doll House 168 DH19-155/F with ›Christie‹ head in light tan skin color which travels to North America.

Congratulations to the new owner, she is a looker!

4) EX Synthetics.

EX has published a couple of new (short) video clips with the animatronics R&D. Judging from these clips, a sex robot appears not to be anmye what is the development goal. Actually, there is no lower body yet. As before, the animatronics is impressive.

5) Dolls in development.

Irontech Doll is working on a male body. It is expected to be completed after CNY. First pictures from the current sculpt are in our Twitter timeline.

Another work in progress comes from YL Doll, thanks to Jeff for the pointer. YL is finalizing a voluptuous 158 cm doll. First pictures are here. This doll is expected to be officially announced after CNY as well; currently she is in pre-order stage.

6) Factory closing schedules.

As mentioned in the beginning, CNY holidays are around the corner. Most manufacturers will process new orders after the holidays. Here are some factory closing schedules:

• Doll Forever: Jan 22nd - Feb 16th
• Irontech Doll: Jan 28th - Feb 12th (cutoff date for new order: Jan 25th)
• YL Doll: Jan 30th - Feb 12th

I think the timeframe between Jan 30th til Feb 12th is also the time where most logistics companies are closed, so no dolls will be shipped during this time.

As always, most sales agents remain available to collect orders. Usually, the new orders during CNY holidays are queued and then processed by first com first served. So it is not wrong to place an order durcing CNY - after the holidays there will be a backlog which will usually take until March.

7) Other topics.

a) On UKLDF an interesting observation surfaced. User Tommo10 noticed that his YL-157 doll is actually of similar body height as his WM-166/C. That's quite odd as Chinese dolls tend to be shorter than advertised. He posted a side-by-side picture with his eight (!) Jinsan dolls as evidence. Maybe she is an unique specimen. We'll see if there is a rational explanation why a 157 cm doll is almost as tall as a 166 cm doll.

b) Indigo has resumed with his business, but so far only a fraction of the delayed orders have been shipped. As mentioned two weeks ago, his products will become available for (new) orders, again after the backlog has been processed.
