Weekly summary 40/2021

Hi,

this is a summary of what was going in the doll world in the 40th week of 2021, as far as we at Dollstudio & DS Doll Europe & Xycolo Europe were concerned.

1) Corona situation. a) The situation in general. The economic desaster caused by lockdowns and other Corona measures keeps unfolding. Supply chains are disrupted, and energy prices climb up. Shortages in key industries are already reported in the news. There is a massive energy crisis ahead, comparable with what happened in the 1970's. It is becoming obvious that Corona was only the pretext for something much bigger.

With currently 65 studies including 32 Randomized Controlled Trials (RCTs) reporting positive effects of Ivermectin, there is plenty of sound research proving the efficacy of Covid-19 prophylaxis, and treatment protocols like I-MASK+ and MATH+ available. Also, as reported in the Lancet, inhalation of Budesonid can reduce the probability of severe courses of disease by 90%. All of this is clear evidence that the SARS-CoV-2 virus is similarily managable like any other easily transmissible virus. For what plausible reason is treatment and prophylaxis with Ivermectin or Budesonid keeps getting suppressed? #FollowtheScience.

b) Impact on the doll business. Several Chinese manufacturer have issued alerts because of silicone shortages and steeply increasing costs for raw materials. Prices for materials required to build dolls have increased by up tp 40%. New price lists state shocking air freight costs, especially for taller and/or heavier dolls. Also, the first dolls have showed up where freight costs are approximately three times the item cost. So far, the worst item/freight ratio was 1:2 (freight costs twice as high as item cost).

2) New arrivals.

This week, five new heads were introduced:

• Irokebijin ›Shinobu‹ head (忍, Rěn) - TPE
• SE Doll ›Martha‹ head (SE no. 099) - TPE
• WM Dolls no. 262 head (Jinsan no. 262) - TPE
• Xycolo ›Brigitte‹ head (oral) - silicone
• Zelex A142 head - TPE

Also, three new body styles were released:

• New arrivals: Irokebijin IKT-110/G body style - TPE / ~110 cm / ~11 kg
• New arrivals: WM Dolls WM-L158/S body style - TPE / 158 cm / 40 kg
• New arrivals: WM Dolls WM-175/D body style - TPE / 175 cm / 38 kg

No new head variants of existing heads were introduced.
