Weekly summary 48/2020

Hi,

this is a summary of what was going in the doll world in the 48th week of 2020, as far as we at Dollstudio & DS Doll Europe were concerned.

1) Coronavirus situation.

a) The pandemic situation in general. Across Europe, lockdowns are extended and mostly tightend. For example, in Germany the 'Lockdown light' spans until January 15th, 2021, with short 'breaks' for Christmas and New Year. Many countries around the globe were in lockdowns for one third of the whole year 2020. To fabricate a crisis with similar magnitude, a world war would be required. The collapsing financial system has been waiting for such a major crisis for year. Considering that the Coronavirus pandemic might have been the alternative to warmongering into WWIII, maybe we should consider ourselfes lucky that this alternative has been chosen.

b) Impact on the doll business. One more, air freight capacities are reduced and freight costs increase (worldwide). Also, the second wave of lockdowns continue to delay shipments to EU destinations. The damage caused by the spring lockdowns repeats. Transit with the UPS special line takes now 45 days and up (air freight variant). The super-slow variant by train is used again, estimated transit time is 60 days and up.

2) New arrivals.

This week, four new heads were introduced:

• Doll Forever ›Selena‹ head - TPE
• SE Doll ›Beth‹ head (SE no. 089) - TPE
• SE Doll ›Serika‹ head aka 芹佳 (SE no. 079), also known as Nanase and Manami - TPE
• WM Dolls no. 370 head (Jinsan no. 370) - TPE

Also, three new body styles were released:

• New arrivals: HR Doll HR-150/E body style - TPE / height ~150 cm / weight ~32 kg
• New arrivals: WM Dolls WM-155/L body style - TPE / 15 cm / 34 kg
• New arrivals: WM Dolls WM-170/D body style - TPE / 170 cm / 36 kg
